Directorate of Doctoral Studies

The misión of the Directorate of Doctoral Studies is to strengthen, promote and manage the training of researchers at the highest level.

Among its main functions, it is responsible for supporting the creation of academic postgraduate programs and their modifications in accordance with the regulatory and budgetary framework, the quality standards defined by the institution and the national quality assurance system.

This department also executes the academic policies related to the norms, operation and coordination of the doctoral and master’s degree programs, ensuring compliance with the training processes, making possible their earliest possible accreditation.

It has also been responsible for including in the curricula of doctoral programs training activities for the development of cross-cutting skills of the XXI century related to communication, development of teaching skills, as well as a solid ethical training, enriching the training of graduates with tools and knowledge corresponding to the research and academic work, as a differentiating seal.The mission of the Directorate of Doctoral Programs is to strengthen, promote and manage the training of researchers at the highest level.

Universidad San Sebastian offers eight doctoral programs to contribute to the advanced training of researchers who provide the generation of new knowledge, as expressed in its misión.

Our programs, made up of academic senates with outstanding research careers, are characterized by being innovative and promoting interdiscipline, seeking to generate capabilities that provide answers to current and future challenges of society.

Fondo de Apoyo para Pasantías de Investigación Internacionales

The Directorate of Doctoral Programs invites USS doctoral students who are conducting research units, thesis projects, or who are interested in linking their research with the work of academics from doctoral programs at other USS sites, to carry out short regional research stays.

The purpose of these funds is to support and promote the development of scientific and humanistic research, as well as the linking of doctoral students with researchers from all the University’s sites (Concepción, Valdivia, Puerto Montt and Santiago), in order to strengthen research and programs at the national level.

Fondo de Apoyo a la Participación en Congresos y Cursos cortos Internacionales

The Directorate of Doctoral Programs invites students of doctoral programs at Universidad San Sebastián who carry out research internships abroad to apply for funds to partially finance the costs of this activity.

The purpose of these funds is to strengthen and promote the insertion of doctoral students in the international scientific community, collaborating in increasing their knowledge, access to technologies and bibliographic resources and research networks relevant to their área.

Fondo de apoyo para Pasantías de Investigación Internacionales

The Directorate of Doctoral Programs invites students of Doctoral and academic Master’s programs of Universidad San Sebastián who participate as speakers in scientific events, or who enroll in international short courses of deepening, to apply for funds to partially finance the costs of these activities. For students of academic Master’s programs, participation in national congresses of reference in the discipline may be financed.

The purpose of these funds is to strengthen and promote the insertion of their PhD and academic Master’s students in the international scientific community, and also to collaborate in increasing their research networks and knowledge relevant to their área

Fondo de Apoyo Profesor Visitante Internacional

Universidad San Sebastián, through its Vice Rector’s Office for Research and Doctoral Programs, strengthens the research and training of its doctoral students, promoting links with foreign researchers of recognized trajectory.

Through these funds, it seeks to partially support the visit of internationally renowned foreign professors who participate in activities related to the development of doctoral thesis projects as a professor co-tutor of theses, as part of the Thesis Committee or other activities that impact on the development of the research of doctoral students.
